Autumn walks
I’ve been enjoying walking our new puppy recently in the local wood. I always enjoy the colours this time of year and it’s been fun finding acorns and conkers with my kids. Unfortunately we were a bit late with the acorns and they all floated meaning they won’t germinate, however we have collected beech nuts, sycamore wings and we have some Rowan, Hawthorn and Yew seeds to process.
With any luck over the next year and two we’ll have saplings ready for planting. I’ll also be looking for elm seeds that appear in early summer also ash and birch but come time for acorns next year we’ll be on the ball! Having worked with wood so long I’d like to give back, create a circular economy with my business and leave something for future woodworkers, not to mention saving the planet!
